Our Coaching Philosophy at ACE Camps: Why Our Approach Works

At ACE Camps, everything we do is built around one simple idea: children learn best when they are active, engaged and enjoying themselves.
As we go into our 5th year of running summer camps, we’ve had the opportunity to continuously refine and improve our approach. Through experience, feedback and working with children of all ages, we’ve been able to fine-tune our programme to deliver the best possible experience for every child.
In a time where physical education in primary schools is often limited to less than an hour per week, summer camps have become more important than ever. They provide children with the opportunity to stay active, develop key skills and learn important life lessons such as teamwork, resilience, and how to handle both winning and losing.
It’s Not About Drills, It’s About a Game-Based Approach
Traditional coaching often focuses on repetitive drills, where children spend time waiting their turn or repeating the same movements.
At ACE Camps, we take a different approach.
We use games to teach skills.
By using fun, competitive activities, children are constantly involved, making decisions, reacting and improving without even realising it. This keeps energy levels high and ensures every child is engaged from start to finish.
A game-based approach means more touches of the ball, more movement, more decision-making and ultimately more enjoyment.
Fun First, Always
Enjoyment is at the centre of everything we do. When children are having fun, they are more confident, more willing to try new things and more likely to develop a lifelong love of sport.
Our camps are built around games, competitions and prizes, creating an environment children genuinely look forward to each day.
Developing Cross-Sport Skills
Rather than focusing on just one sport, our camps are designed to develop cross-sport skills.
These include coordination, balance, agility, awareness and teamwork. By exposing children to a variety of activities, we help them build skills that transfer across all sports.
Building Confidence and Friendships
While sport is a big part of what we do, it’s not the only focus.
We create a positive and inclusive environment where children feel comfortable, supported and encouraged. This allows them to build confidence, make friends and enjoy being part of a group.
Experience You Can Trust
ACE Camps is run by experienced coaches with over 10 years of experience working with children across schools, clubs and sports programmes.
This experience allows us to deliver sessions that are well-structured, engaging and suitable for all ability levels, giving parents confidence that their children are in a safe and supportive environment.
A Camp That Works for Parents
Our camps run from 8:30am to 2:30pm, providing a full day of activity with no hidden extras.
This ensures children are active and supervised throughout the day, while also making it convenient for busy parents.
A Local, Community-Focused Camp
Based in Wesley College, ACE Camps proudly serves families across Ballinteer, Dundrum and the wider South Dublin area.
Many families return year after year, which reflects the quality of the experience we provide.
Why Our Approach Works
Our coaching philosophy is built on a simple principle: if children are enjoying themselves, they will learn more, develop faster and come back wanting more.
By focusing on a fun-first, game-based approach, we create a camp environment that benefits children both physically and socially.
